I Hope

My wife and I became involved with an organization called Journey Into Wholeness around the year 2000. Every autumn, Journey hosted a week long workshop in North Carolina to explore the work of Carl Jung and all the many thinkers he has inspired. One night, around a bonfire, someone passed a guitar to me and I played an original song. And then another. By the end of the week I was invited to perform for the assembled group of about one hundred people. The reception I got was so positive I decided to produce an album of songs which I thought would appeal to the Journey community. I enlisted my friend Joe Pisapia to produce the album which became “I Hope” and I dedicated it to Journey Into Wholeness. The next fall I returned to the conference with CDs to share. The album spawned two recordings by the great soul singer Candi Staton, “When Will I?” and a cover of the LeAnn Rimes hit “The Light In Your Eyes.” Candi’s version of “When Will I?” was featured in the Tyler Perry film “The Family That Preys.”
